The 7 Heavenly Fairies

August 19 was the 7th day of the 7th month of the Chinese calendar. A day for lovers. The festival of the Heavenly Weaving Fairies and the Earthly Cowherd.

If you look up into the sky on a clear, bright and cloudless night, you might spot the moon fairies represented by seven stars located close to the moon. The twinkling lights of the youngest fairy is dimmer than the other six. Probably because she was already married to the cowherd and conceived a son and thus not so pure as her celestial sisters.

I do not remember anyone celebrating this festival today. But when I was young a table was set up outside our house, with food offerings for the faithful lovers. If the sky were scattered with clouds, we would wait patiently until the moon emerged behind them. The couple only get to meet up with each other once a year. So much longing pains and so much pitiful tears for the lovers, it flowed down as torrential rain that day.

These raindrops are believed to have medicinal purpose. We would collect and use it for soaking uncooked rice in an earthenware for 49 days. When the rice is softened, grind them in a stone grinder, sieve the rice flour with a white cotton cloth to rid off excess water. This fine powdery flour is used to make pearl drops. Dry them under the sun with fragrant pandan leaves then store in glass bottles for later use as powder. To use, take one or two pearl drops, mix with a little water in your palm and wipe it all over your face, neck and wherever you want to apply. This powder effectively helps to keep pimples and heat rashes away.

If your stubborn pimples still refuse to subside please do not look for me. Look up into the sky and pray for the moon fairies to help you or check and monitor your diet thoroughly. Refrain from oily and spicy foods. Or maybe, your hormones has mutated drastically due to the genetic food developed in this space age by enthusiastic food technologists. Well, someone has to be the guinea pig for food testing.

After the Apollo 11 had landed on the moon on July 20, 1969, worshipping of the moon has gradually declined. Perhaps, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin had scared the celestial colony away from the moon. Or maybe, the strange machine Michael Collins was piloting had managed to drove them to Mars.

Now, you know why the Martians visit us and where they originated from. You visited me last time, I drop by occasionally to say hello.

The general election will be in September. There will be another round of RM500.00 for the nation.  We are printing new ringgit notes.

Over in Europe, countries are fighting for goals.  Footballs fans are fighting each other over goals.  People all over the world are having sleepless nights over goals.

For the moment everyone is happy.  The worries come later.

A newly paved pavement

I visited my tenant yesterday because he wanted me to fix a tap for his washing machine. As I was leaving I realized that the ground I was standing on is kind of different. Not so hard and clean of dirt. Looking down I found it was freshly laid with tarmac. And Alam Flora has provided each household a big, big green rubbish bin.

Oh God must have blessed the people of Cheras. Or God must have told the Cheras municipal to bless the people of Cheras abundantly.

Haa I know, I help you, you help me.

A great loss to the music world

For a moment in time Whitney Houston enthralled us with her beautiful voice. Yesterday there was no one who can surpass her voice. Today no one can carry a voice like hers. Tomorrow no one can knock her off her pedestal. She is special.

For a moment in time we enjoyed her presence. Today she is gone. Tomorrow we can't bring her back. Most of us will miss her. For those who don't, they probably don't know her.

There is only one Whitney Houston. I do not know whether others will agree with me but the one mistake Whitney ever chosen to make during her life was marrying Bobby Brown. Meeting him was already bad luck. Letting him share her life is like allowing a wolf into her house and letting him slowly eat her up.

Bobby Brown is someone no parent would want their daughter to be associated with. He is a drug addict, a wife beater and a menace to society. Whitney's life would be different if she has distanced herself from him.

Is Bobby Brown happy now that Whitney is gone? If he regrets what he had done to her, I will probably advise him to make it right. Mmm, who am I to advise?

More people less share

Alamak! Bfast coming 2moro. Burp he he

I received this SMS at 8.17 pm last night from Yan Lee announcing she has prepared breakfast for us. She is blessed with culinary skills. What she has cooked up this time was Hokkein Mee.

Early in the morning before the others arrived for work, Ivy has dutifully scissored chilli padi to go with the noodles. I squeezed out the belachan chilli from a plastic bag into a small chilli saucer. This will blend very well with the noodles too. The belachan chilli was a leftover from our visit to Sri Siam yesterday to celebrate Yan Lee’s birthday. Just imagine two small saucers of chillis cost RM2.00.

Yan Lee arrived at 8 am. Dona, Ivy and Elaine were in the kitchen microwaving up the noodles. The table were laid up with bowls and cutleries neatly arranged at their respective places. At Dona’s, at Ivy’s, at Suet Ben’s, at Yan Lee’s and Elaine always uses her own serving plate. Dona and Ivy were seated at their places waiting while Elaine was at the microwave oven waiting for the cling sound to announce the noodles are ready to be served.

And I had already toasted my chocolate/banana spread bread for breakfast and eaten them! Thank God, I received this message after I have prepared for my breakfast or would be gatecrashing today’s breakfast.

Anyway, I will always appreciate Yan Lee’s invitation for breakfast. But I am sure if I join them, their shares would be limited.

Give In To Me

She always takes it with a heart of stone
Cause all she does is throw it back to me
I've spent a lifetime looking for someone
Don't try to understand me
Just simply do the things I say

Love is a feeling
Give it when I want it
Cause I'm on fire
Quench my desire
Give it when I want it
Talk to me woman
Give in to me, give in to me

You always knew just how to make me cry
And never did I ask you questions why
It seems you get your kicks from hurting me
Don't try to understand me
Because your words just aren't enough

Love is a feeling
Quench my desire
Give it when I want it
Taking me higher
Love is a woman
I don't wanna hear it
Give in to me, give in to me

It's all right
But it's ok, But it's ok
You're always thinking
That you know it's a lie
But it's ok, But it's ok
I'd never find better peace of mine, no

Don't try to tell me
Because your words just aren't enough

Love is a feeling
Quench my desire
Give it when I want it
Taking me higher

Talk to me woman
Love is a
I don't want to hear it
Quench my desire
I'm on fire
Give it to me woman
I don't want to hear it
Tell it to the preacher

Love is a woman
Love is a feeling
Give in to me
Give in to me
Give in to me

Love is a feeling
I don't wanna hear it
Quench my desire
Taking me higher
Tell it to the preacher
Satisfy the feeling
Give in to me
Give in to me
Give in to me

Give in to me woman
Talk to me lady
Cause I'm on fire

What is important and what is not.

Inmates from the Taman Sinar Harapan Instition in Kuala Kubu Baru, Perak.

Most of time we forget where our priority lies. Sometimes we fail to understand the difference between needs and pleasure. This way we made so many mistakes that we could not remedy. Every thing we do we think we are doing it right. We are so absorbed in what we are doing we failed to recognize its flaw. We refused to listen to people around us, thinking we are smarter than them. In the end we failed in the projects we are handling.

RM8million is nothing to some people because it does not belong to them. But to some RM8million can channel help to many helpless people in our country.

We often say ‘many heads are better than one’. By combining our brains together we hope to produce better results. What happen if the brains are thinking of something more rewarding? The result? The surprising headlines in newspapers all the time.

At the front porch is the Malaysia Book of Record scorer: the iconic Liuli Crystal Fountain. At the backyard is the pathetic Horror Home in Kuala Kubu Baru. What is inside the house? Naughty, naughty politicians who need to be educated on what is important and what is not.

Liuli Crystal Fountain

Wow, I am enormously impressed and marvel in awe at the beauty of the Liuli Crystal Fountain at the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

It costs just a cool RM8million to put those 3 bowls up. Incidentally, it is intricately designed with our national flower, the hibiscus. With the fountain in full function, it is a splendor to watch the cascading water streaming down like a waterfall. The flowing water will keep you cool and fresh if you happened to stand before it. The thunderous falling water will wake you from your sleep so you do not daydream so much.

There is a secondary attraction coming from this tallest fountain which finds its way into the Malaysia Book of Records. It also serves as a wishing well. Follow the example of our Tourism Minister, toss a coin into it and make your wish. Your wish may come true. Of course, you must be sincere and honest about what you will do after your wish is granted.

I am going to toss a coin and make a wish. I wish RM8million will fall into my lap soon. And I will contribute them to the seven Taman Sinar Harapan institutions for the disabled. They really need not only my help but others too. My objective is to provide healthcare, medication, clothing, beds, food and assistance so the residents can have a better life tomorrow.

Of course, I will keep the remaining RM1million. After all I am the one asking for this wish. As to what I will do with it. Wait and see… there are lots of people and places that needs help.

The Democracy Plaque

The Democracy Plaque of the opposition party. Someone who did not like what this plaque stands for destroyed it. You couldn't find it under the raintree anymore. But pieces of it was snapped up by members of the public for its symbolic meaning. This is life. We have to accept what life brings us though we like to wake up every morning and think it is just an uncomfortable dream while actually it is reality. We have to crawl from under our coconut shells and face up to life for the wind is blowing towards another direction.

Batman

Airport Security: What is your name?
Traveller: Batman

Airport Security: Your real name please?
Traveller: Batman

Airport Security: You think you are funny, what is your name?
Traveller: Batman

Airport Security: Ok, your family name?
Traveller: Superman

Airport Security gave the traveller a slap on the face and took him into the detention room.... until they saw the passport .....

The moral is check la before you act. Another thing is don't la give your child trouble by giving him fanciful name you think is fanciful.

The American Idol

The topic under the most discussion at the moment is probably the finale of the American Idol. The Fly-FM DJs were furiously discussing about the ability and the chances of Adam Lambert and Kris Allen winning the American Idol this morning.

The winning song specially written for their performances which Kara proudly announced she co-wrote was not fully and beautifully delivered by the two finalists. Kris sounded beautiful at the start. He sang it so touchingly. You just felt serene, relaxed and comfortable as his voice brought out fond memories of past times. But when he hit the high notes his voice was coarse. He did not manage to bring out the melody of the song during that time. The song was meant for Adam. He delivered it in the style of a slow rock at the beginning. His voice was sharp and you got the feel of it. Excitement and high was how I felt. When it came to the high, he was in a rush with the lyrics. His voice sounded fierce and hurried. You pulled on your brakes and fell back on your cushions and Oh! What happened?

I think if this song is given to Leona Lewis she will give us a good satisfying day. You can just lay back, safe and sound and enjoy wherever the lyrics and music takes you. Let her melodious voice float you blissfully over Neverland in the beginning and when she reaches the high notes we will not jolt to awareness like Kris and Adam did to you. Instead she will gently glide you up the slope, lifting you up high above the mountains and let you absorb the euphoria of height and gently lay you down at the end utterly amazed. This will be the way I image Leona Lewis will sing it, with magnificence.

Kris Allen won the American Idol. He has an arresting voice which will attract a good number of anticipating listeners. As for Adam Lambert, he will also go far with this impressive voice and his theatrical, flamboyant performances.

Black is the color for politics

You are challenging, and have the "guts". But you don't like changes in your life. And once you make a decision, you keep it that way for a long time. This is a definition of black.

If I leaf through my wardrobe I will find a number of blacks. Pants, T-shirts, blouses etc etc etc. I like black. Everyone loves black. A universal color, accepted and welcomed by all.

Clothes designers love to play with black. Nuns and monks choose it for their divine attire. Behind a black backdrop and a dimly lighted stage you could not even see where the black-clad singer was. A black tuxedo and tie for a formal dinner. Middle Eastern women prefer black. The Orthodox Jews wear black. Lawyers wear black. Graduates gowned in black during their convocation. Not forgetting, black is the color for mourning, regardless of race.

I am wearing black today. From my hairband, my blouse, my pants, my stockings and my shoes to my undies. I feel like wearing black today. I have the right to choose the color of my attire today. Nobody dictates what color I should or should not wear.

Well, you will be arrested for wearing black if you are fighting for democratic right in Perak today. A blogger was arrested under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948 on Tuesday night for suggesting the public wear black in support of the wresting control of the Perak state government by the Barisan National from the Pakatan Rakyat.

The opposition party won the Perak seats during the recent election. Just because three traitors decided to jump ship, the BN decides the governing right to rule Perak belongs to them. The people of Perak viewed their rights to vote have been ridiculed. Why hold an election when the nation’s decision can be overridden.

Black is a sad color associated with gloominess, uncertainty and instability. This is the state of the Perak government today. Why the hunger for power? Why not peace? And this is politics. Politicians fighting all the while like kindergarten kids. How will the outside world view us? Aiya shame on you, boys.

Respect yourself

Fear in God put you in the right path through life. If you are in fear you will surely tread carefully in whatever you do. You know God is watching from all directions, so you will not do anything to harm the people and the things around you. You shower respect for anything under the sky. In return you show great respect for yourself.

These images came through my mailbox. Whatever it is, these pictures bordered on stupidity. This Caucasian female thought it was really funny and that exhibiting herself is entertaining.

Temples are a place of worship. You respect the deities, their spirits will bless you. You angered them, they will come after you.

I won, I won

This came to me via SMS on March 16 at 8.43 am. To receive a long distance message from so far way, phone: 6288210392493, I am really flattered. I am lucky to be picked and RM10,000 fell on my lap without me wishing for it.

Sharing a birthday

To celebrate our GM’s 60th birthday, today, we gathered in his office to give him a surprise. At this time of economic uncertainty, even a cent is important to us yet we contributed RM12.00 each to put a smile on his face. (A packet of rice with two vegetables costs RM3.00).

While some American bosses were concerned about their own pockets, Japanese bosses helped hurdle their company’s financial losses by unselfishly sacrificing their own payrolls.

I hope Mr. Wong is still not upset over his low profit sharing and will not deduct my salary in the future.

Famous Trees

After eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil which God forbid them, Adam & Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden and denied access to the Tree of Life (left) whose fruits gave everlasting life

God spoke to Moses and gave him the Ten Commandment out of the Burning Bush at Mt Sinai.

The Bodhi Tree at Mahabodhi Temple where Siddharta Gautama (Buddha) achieved enlightenment.

A Christmas tree is decorated with Christmas lights and colourful ornaments during the days around Christmas. An angel or star is often placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity story. The tree represents Life in winter, Light in Darkness, Hope of coming Spring.

Human slaughtering in China

Received through my email.

"Horrible custom of slaughtering women during Chinese New Year for a feast in a remote village in China. Single woman especially back-packer who happens to stay a night at the village will be detained there. She will be fed with good food till she puts on enough fresh. Then she is slaughterd during Chinese New Year. One family will only slaughter one 'new year pig' as they say. Those families who have no luck because nobody chooses to stay at their houses will get a share from their neighbours. The photos were taken by a male visitor who happens to have a good friend living at the village. He happened to drop in during the Chinese New Year and was invited to have a 'human meat' feast."

Living in an igloo

When I think of igloos, I think of the Eskimos. On your knees you crawl through the L-shaped tunnel to reach the main room. A dwelling, void of beds but carpeted with thick animal furs where you cuddle up to keep from freezing to death.

Time has passed. You need not go to the Arctic Circle or the North Pole or their nearby neighborhood to get invited to stay in an igloo anymore. We can now sample living in an igloo thanks to Adrian Guenter, a Swiss snowboarding fanatic. He is the owner of Iglu-Dorf, a 15 igloos hotel in Davos.

If you asked me where Davos is, I honestly do not know at all until all the hu ha about the world climatic changes and the world’s recession which every country is panicking about. Davos is the capital city of the World Economic Forum. Annually, world leaders and corporate big shots convene there to talk about money problem.

The Swiss weather is conducive so this enterprising guy, presently lords over four igloo hotels in Switzerland, one each in Germany and Andorra in the Pyrenees. If you do not mind the piercing cold seeping into your bones during the night and can tolerate the minus 20ºC temperature during the day, then pamper yourself silly in a “standard’ igloo that costs €119. For the "romantik-iglu plus" you part with €339.

"We built the complex in five weeks using giant inflatable balloons which were then covered with snow," disclosed a staff at the Davos igloos. Not real igloos. "Building in a traditional manner would have taken us all winter” he revealed further. But the cluster of igloo villages are fully equipped with saunas, whirlpool baths, bar, restaurant, an even a conference room!

Job opportunities are open for those fluent in Spanish or German. It is a great pity when I speak Spanish, the Senors and Senoritas have difficulty understanding me and my German is half past six to qualify me a job at the Igloo Villages.

Work there? No way. I think the deep snow reaches my chin!

Piggy Tale

Looking at these pictures I have mixed feelings. I just could not believe what I am seeing. I hope anyone viewing these photos will agree.

Those who are religiously inclined will raise unreasonable lots of noise and are ready to bring the heavens down. They will regard the actions as repulsive and excessively humiliating to their religion.

On the other hand, some will brush it aside rationally and accept it as okay. If one would take time to listen to the explanations, one will understand these photos of a Muslim student from University Putra Malaysia cuddling a piglet in her arms is harmless.

Muslim students are not excused from handling dogs and pigs as part of their veterinary assignments and practical studies. Coming into contact with all types of animals, is compulsory regardless of religious beliefs. Dogs and pigs are part of our Malaysian life and to draw a line is probably silly.

Will someone take advantage to create trouble for her? Will society subject her to punishment? Will someone politicalize it and create uneasiness among the people?

Visa Card® / Msn® INTERNATIONAL MEGA JACKPOT

Received the below announcement through my office email. It claims its origin from MSN. I am supposed to be excited and honoured to be selected to win £500,000.00 from my usage of Visa Card. And later, no doubt, they will ask me to deposit some payments into their banking accounts to facilitate the Jackpot Winnings transfer before I get to touch a cent of my winnings.

By the time I ‘receive’ my winnings I would surely have lost a few hundred thousand pounds to them. People are so desperate for money that they go to so much length to sacrifice their souls by cheat unsuspecting and naïf individuals out of their hard earned money.

What that does not belong to you, does not belong to you. I hope the senders and their group of cows will rot in prisons, never to be awarded an appeal, never to get pardoned, not in this world, not in their world after.

I am sorry if I sound so cruel but it is crueler to inflict misery on others.
